Texas Living

So, I did this thing……..I up and moved to Texas with my son and his family.  Pretty much everyone I know thought I was nuts.  I wasn’t planning on moving here….I was planning on helping them get set up and set up the little apartment they have on their property for me to use and then winter here, going back to Oregon every summer.

Problem is, Spirit had other ideas.  I fell in LOVE, first of all, with Texas.  Then, my health improved DRAMATICALLY!  Then I went back to Oregon for 3 weeks and got really really sick.  So, I’m back in Texas.

I won’t say, I’m never going back, but I will say it will only be for short visits.  This place, for me, is magical.  I found me again.  Once the inflammation came down I, ME,  started to re emerge, like a butterfly from a cocoon.  I didn’t even realize I’d left.  I had been in survival mode for so very long, I just didn’t know I was there.

We live in Mid/Central Texas.  Desert, rattlesnakes, scorpions, wild boar…..and Lord knows what else.  Everyone here says God Bless you when you leave them, or have a blessed day.  They say “yes Mam”, “yes sir”, out of respect, when they speak to you.  Most still write checks.  It’s a much simpler life.  Much more connected life.  These people, their lives REVOLVE around their children, their family, their God.  You may go to the local eatery and it may be closed because they wanted to let them and their staff go to the High School for a sport activity.  The schools are well cared for and they have beautiful facilities, regardless of their population.  These folks KNOW each other!  They knew right away we were not from around here and multiple folks stopped by to introduce themselves and make us feel welcome!  MIND YOU, we live 4 miles out of town!!! They did it anyway.

This is the America I used to know and am thrilled to be a part of again.  Most go to church or study their preference at home.  NO ONE judges how you choose to do it!  Actually, no one judges you at all!  I feel welcome, at home, mostly at Peace.

My gratitude meter is on high right now.  God has blessed me greatly.

Just look at this sunrise!  The sunrises and sunsets here remind me, Spirit is here, right here and I’m witness!

That is Scott’s photo from this morning.  To the left is the windmill that he put the red/white/blue LED lights on to represent our freedom, right here in Texas.  GOD BLESS YOU!
